Recycling of wastewater heat in Skanska's Solterrassen property in Umeå

In the southern part of Umeå, Skanska built a modern city residence with occupancy in 2018. The building consists of 42 apartments that together with a large communal terrace frame a verdant courtyard. Sustainability has been a keyword for the project; Solterrassen is Svanenmärkt (Nordic ecolabelled) and was awarded "Best Housing Project 2018 – Sweden's most satisfied residential customers".

"Evertherm has shown great interest during the installation and after starting up to make the result as good as possible."
Mats Andersson, Business Developer at Skanska

Waste water recovery facility

Evertherm has installed a turnkey recycling solution, Evertherm SEW, with the possibility of returning 90-95% of available energy from the waste water. The recycling facility consists of pump pit, buffer tank, collector tank, heat pump and control system for operation, monitoring and optimization. The tanks have been buried outdoors at a bicycle storage room and other equipment is placed indoors in the technical room. The solution is self-cleaning and therefore requires minimal maintenance.
